Café de los Angelitos – Dinner & Tango Show in Buenos Aires

El Café de los Angelitos is one of the available options when you think about enjoying a Tango Dinner Show in Buenos Aires. What makes it different from the rest of the options is that the building, located on the corner of Avenida Rivadavia and Rincón, in the Balvanera neighborhood, is none other than the place where Carlos Gardel established his meeting place with friends, starting in 1912 when he began his artistic career with José Razzano. The latter, in 1944, composed a famous tango with lyrics by Cátulo Castillo precisely titled “Café de los Angelitos.” So we are talking about a unique place with significant cultural and historical interest. This bar belongs to the select group of notable bars in the City of Buenos Aires, a group that brings together the most representative bars and cafés in the city.

The Dinner Show is offered from 8 pm. The place has an intimate atmosphere, where colors like light blue and gold predominate. An excellent view of the stage is guaranteed from any table, as it is not a very large space, making the experience very pleasant. The food was very good, the menu is varied and offers several options. We opted for Argentine empanadas, followed by a perfectly cooked bife de chorizo accompanied by potatoes and herbs, and we finished with a dulce de leche mousse, a truly Argentine touch.

The show lasts an hour and fifteen minutes and traces the history of tango from the beginning of the century, with a very good staging. Five dance couples delight the audience with impressive tango stage moves, great costume changes, and the accompaniment of a live orchestra composed of piano, guitar, bandoneon, double bass, and violin. Two singers, one male and one female, accompany the evening, which even includes an interesting fusion of tango with Michael Jackson’s music in an attempt to show a more modern side of tango. During dinner, electronic tango music is also present.
