Madero Tango – Dinner & Tango Show in Buenos Aires

Madero Tango is a great option among those available in Buenos Aires to enjoy a good tango dinner show. It stands out from the rest. To begin with, its location is in Puerto Madero, the renovated port area that has become a gastronomic hub and is one of the most modern and visited places by international tourists. Situated by the dock, it offers a different view compared to other shows in the city.

The place offers an interesting atmosphere and good location from all seats. The tables are arranged around a large stage. The set design is completed with large screens that will accompany the show with a very good audiovisual display.

The food is excellent, and depending on the menu you choose, the variations are interesting. With the premium menu, we enjoyed an appetizer of sweetbreads with Teriyaki sauce and lemon mashed potatoes. Exquisite. The traditional Buenos Aires Bife de Chorizo was the main course, well complemented by local chimichurri. The dessert was also exquisite, called Bandoneón, a combination of chocolate and butter cookies filled with dulce de leche mousse, another typical local flavor. All accompanied by a very good Malbec wine.

The show is different, with more performance from the dancers than in other similar shows. The staging is very good, covering the beginnings of tango and its fusion with Italian immigration, African rhythms, the port, La Boca, and the river. With football always present, tango develops in the streets of a Buenos Aires marked by the fusion of customs, the labor and economic difficulties of the time, and the colorful neighborhood that evolved to the rhythm of this new cultural movement. As I mentioned, football, cabaret, love, and the exploitation of labor and women in those years are all featured. The tribute to Carlos Gardel stands out greatly, with tangos like “Por una cabeza,” “Volver,” and “Mi Buenos Aires querido.” Two female voices and one male voice alternate with some of the most well-known tangos, accompanied by a presenter who acts as a host throughout the performance.

The orchestra is a sextet composed of two violins, two bandoneons, double bass, and piano, providing live music at all times. Five dance couples delighted us with daring stage dance moves. Towards the end, the show achieves an interesting fusion with folklore, including drums and the traditional boleadoras performance that always attracts the audience, as well as more modern electronic tango.

No double, Madero Tango is a highly recommended option to enjoy good tango in Buenos Aires.
