Michelangelo – Dinner & Tango Show in Buenos Aires

One of the best Tango experiences you can have is at Michelangelo Legend. Its location in the heart of the San Telmo neighborhood and the historic building where the tango show with dinner is offered make it unique. Originally, the grounds where this historic building stands ended in a ravine that led to the Rio de la Plata, and later came under the control of Dominican friars around the 1600s, being part of the Santo Domingo parish. It also housed the old customs office and a healing center for soldiers who fought the English in the 1806 invasion. Interesting, right? A little later, around 1885, a property was inaugurated that already belonged to the Huergo family, which was used as a warehouse and later as a distillery. This is the building we can enjoy today at Michelangelo, constructed by the English architect Edward Taylor.

Entering there is quite an experience; its vaulted ceilings and walls covered with bricks and perfectly themed decoration make the place simply fascinating. The owners have made a special effort to highlight the importance of the building, decorating it with antique furniture, historical photographs of great Argentine artists and athletes, and some outstanding items such as a car belonging to the great Juan Manuel Fangio, five-time Formula 1 world champion.

Once in the hall, the welcome from the staff is very cordial. It is a large room with curved brick ceilings, ending with a stage that extends along the length. This makes the view and enjoyment of the show very good from any location. The menu offers several options in a very interesting three-course meal, as it highlights local cuisine. In our case, we opted for the typical Argentine choripán with chimichurri, followed by a magnificent Argentine bife de chorizo with potatoes, and to finish, a mix of Argentine cheeses and sweets. A good Malbec wine, and we were ready for the show. The show is very well done, featuring a notable tour of the most famous tangos recognized by the international public. The orchestra stands out for the quality of its musicians, three pairs of high-level dancers who truly fascinate an audience surprised by the best salon tango, and renowned vocal artists such as Chiqui Pereyra and Nestor Fabian. Two unique voices that are a gem in the Buenos Aires night.

Upon leaving, don’t forget to take some photos in this unique building in the San Telmo neighborhood, and perhaps enjoy a drink at the Dante bar.
