This venue offers its Teatro Astor Piazzolla, located in the basement of the General Güemes Gallery, an Art Nouveau space that reflects an important stage in the growth of the city of Buenos Aires. It is a cozy, circular place with tables where the audience would usually be, and some boxes where tables are also placed. The view of the show is excellent from any place, as the stage is very close to all the tables. The menu is classic, with empanadas criollas as a starter, a perfectly cooked bife de chorizo as the main course, and a chocolate mousse to finish the dinner. The show goes smoothly, featuring a tango sextet composed of piano, double bass, two violins, and two bandoneons. There are five dance couples and an additional one that stands out specially. The couples shine with great artistic stage dance moves, some of which impress the audience due to their difficulty. There are also two alternating vocalists, one male and one female, who perform the most famous tangos known internationally. The show does not include details of Argentine folklore. The finale is all Piazzolla, with “Libertango” and an excellent version of Astor’s famous tango, “Adiós Nonino.” A recommended option to enjoy tango in the City of Buenos Aires.
